Author Event: Jamie Fiore Higgins
The Ocean County Library 101 Washington St, Toms River, NJ, United StatesThe Ocean County Library will host Jamie Fiore Higgins, who will discuss and sign copies of her book, Bully Market: My Story of Money and Misogyny at Goldman Sachs. Financial Times named Jamie one of its Top 25 Most Influential Women of 2022. In Bully Market, Jamie combines her sobering account of harassment and discrimination in corporate America with practical steps for improving workplace cultures and promoting an environment of inclusion and growth. The product of a working-class family, Jamie Fiore Higgins compiled an 18-year career in the New York headquarters of one of America’s largest finance companies, becoming a Managing Director and the highest-ranking woman in her department. In her dramatic account, she describes a workplace atmosphere fraught with abuse, which eventually affected her health, morale, and marriage before she worked up the courage to walk away and find ways to promote work positivity and equality. Books will be available for purchase by cash, check, credit card, and Apple Pay. Bully Market is also available for borrowing in hardcover, audiobook and eBook formats at the Ocean County Library.

Holocaust Remembrance Day Film/Q&A with Director
The Ocean County Library 101 Washington St, Toms River, NJ, United StatesIn honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, join us for a screening of the award-winning documentary They Survived Together. The film traces the incredible survival story of the Neiger family, who desperately tried to stay together as a family while escaping Nazi occupied Kraków. The family endured unspeakable hardships and were separated from the older brother Ben, but ultimately made it out alive and intact. They are believed to be one of the only families to escape and survive as a family. Director John Rokosny and Producer Andriette Redmann, both residents of Point Pleasant, will answer questions after the film screening. The film received a New York Emmy in 2022 for Best Historical Documentary. Runtime: 1 hour and 13 minutes. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Ocean County Library – Toms River.

Meet Author Kate Kelly, Esq
The Ocean County Library 101 Washington St, Toms River, NJ, United StatesAttorney and activist Kate Kelly, Esq. will discuss her book Ordinary Equality: The Fearless Women and Queer People Who Shaped the U.S. Constitution and the Equal Rights Amendment. From before the Constitution was drafted to the modern day, women and queer people have helped shape the foundations of American democracy. Through the fascinating and often-overlooked lives of more than a dozen key players, including Abigail Adams, Phillis Wheatley, Alice Paul, Pauli Murray, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and Barbara Jordan, Ordinary Equality examines how and why constitutional equality for all marginalized genders has been systematically undermined for over two centuries. Kate Kelly is a feminist, activist, and human rights lawyer. She’s a nationally known advocate for the ratification of the ERA and host and creator of the podcast Ordinary Equality. Kate lives in Washington, DC, with her partner, Jamie Manson.

South Football’s Impossible Dream Documentary Screening & Producer Q&A
The Ocean County Library 101 Washington St, Toms River, NJ, United StatesSouth Football’s Impossible Dream explores techniques used by legendary Toms River coach, Ron Signorino, Sr., in the 1960s, to turn a struggling high school football program into a powerhouse, ranked No. 1 in New Jersey. Coach Signorino challenged his players to believe in “The Impossible Dream,” and, with guts and grit, they clinched 19 consecutive wins. The one-hour film features rare footage of “The Greatest Game Ever Played at the Jersey Shore,” an epic battle in 1969 between Toms River South’s Hitting Indians and the Middletown Lions, that helped put Shore Conference Football on the map. Poignant interviews with former players reveal the impact Coach Signorino has had on their lives–-on and off the field–- during his career of more than 50 years. After the documentary viewing, producer, Sandy Levine, will host a Q&A session. For more than 35 years, filmmaker Sandra Levine has used her exceptional storytelling skills to inspire good, through informative documentaries, and engaging feature stories.
