Bring your children and grandchildren to meet Santa Claus. Bring your camera to take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be with us from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Tour our Victorian style house and museum complete with holiday music and decorations and enjoy holiday refreshments and gifts for the children. Best of all, the event is free! Toms River Elks is excited to announce that this year’s Festival of Trees will be held on Thursday December 5, 2024. The theme of this year’s event is inclusion! The great hall will be decorated of course! This year the decorations will include Dr Seuss inspired designs created by our special children. What is the Festival of Trees? Local non-profit organizations are invited to participate in this event by displaying a beautifully decorated artificial Christmas tree that represents your organization and the services that you provide. On December 5th we will welcome the public to our gala holiday festival, complete with snacks and beverages for all. This year we have some real treats in store for you, including a S’mores Bar! Our cash kitchen will also be open for you to purchase a light fare of dinner foods. There will be music throughout the evening including a performance by the students in the Toms River Orchestra. Join us for the Annual Tree Lighting in the courtyard of Town Hall in Downtown Toms River. Live entertainment begins at 5pm. Santa arrives on the fire truck at 7pm to light the tree. Pet and Family Holiday Photos with Santa! Fundraising efforts to benefit the mission of Ocean Partnership for Children, Ocean County's designated Care Mangement Organization. OPC provides free, confidential, and strength-based care management services to youth up to age 21, by creating child family teams, implementing services, and helping youth in crisis to find sustainable resources. Additionally, OPC runs 6 youth support groups, also open to all Ocean County youth and held throughout the year. 10am-12pm at the OCP office in Downtown Toms River: 36 Washington Street Vendor shopping, resource tables, refreshments, and giveaways! WREP: When Radio Entertained People
Return to the era when families gathered around the radio for “theater of the imagination.” Veteran actors from WREP will perform skits from radio’s “Golden Age” of the 1940s and 1950s. This “broadcast” will feature episodes from the shows Our Miss Brooks, The Mysterious Traveler and My Friend Irma. The Hindenburg Experience Presented by Bill Schmidt Ocean County Historical Society Time: 2:00 PM Date: Sunday, January 5, 2025 Come and experience the last flight of the Hindenburg from Frankfurt, Germany to Lakehurst, New Jersey in 1937! At 803 feet in length, and 135 feet in diameter, the German passenger airship, the Hindenburg, was the largest aircraft ever to fly. The commercial flights of the Hindenburg along with Graf Zeppelin pioneered the first transatlantic air service. She carried hundreds of passengers and travelled thousands of miles before burning in a tragic fire on May 6, 1937, at the Lakehurst Naval Station. Please join us using your imagination on a trip through the history of the Hindenburg. Bill Schmidt is a member of the Lakehurst Historical Society and the Navy Lakehurst Historical Society. He has done extensive research on the last flight of the Hindenburg. In addition, he has spoken to numerous organizations on the topic over a period of many years.
