Downtown Night Out
Downtown Night Out is returning in 2021! We had such a blast last year we are bringing it back. Every Friday and Saturday downtown restaurants and businesses will be open for dining, drinking, shopping and entertaining. A section of Washington Street (between Robbins St. and Main St.) will be closed for outdoor dining.

Meet a World War I Doughboy
Ocean County Historical Society 26 Hadley Ave, Toms River, NJ, United StatesMeet a World War I Doughboy On Sunday November 14, 2021, at 2:00 PM Ocean County Historical Society, will host a Zoom presentation by Ocean County resident, Jeffrey Brown. Jeff is a graduate of Lacey Twp. Schools, Ursinus College (BA in history) and Kean College (Master’s in Education). He currently teaches history at Southern Regional HS and resides in Seaside Park with his wife, two children, and dog. For our program, Jeff will discuss the American doughboy of WWI—his training, rations, uniforms, equipment, and combat. Jeff will wear the WWI uniform and display original artifacts from the Great War that you won’t want to miss. Kids Make and Take

OCHS’s Victorian Era Holiday Celebration
Ocean County Historical Society 26 Hadley Ave, Toms River, NJ, United StatesOCHS’s Victorian Era Holiday Celebration On Saturday, November 27th the Ocean County Historical Society, 26 Hadley Ave., Toms River will be hosting a Victorian Era holiday celebration from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Bring your camera to have pictures taken with a Victorian style Santa. Take a tour of our holiday decorated Elizabeth Sculthorp Force Victorian Era house and museum and enjoy a large model train show. Admission is free, but donations are welcomed. The Korean Conflict: America’s Forgotten War
The Ocean County Library 101 Washington St, Toms River, NJ, United StatesJoin presenter Paul Zigo to learn about the Korean War: America’s ‘Forgotten War’. Learn about its profound impact on East-West relations during the Cold War, the aspects of the war, and the armistice that brought it to a halt. Registration is required. This presentation will be hosted at the Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library. Paul E. Zigo, a history professor, author and military historian is the founder and director, of the World War II Era Studies Institute. The institute is dedicated to furthering one’s knowledge and understanding of the WW II era and its impact on history. He is a graduate of Temple University and the United States Army War College. Mr. Paul E. Zigo is a 30 year veteran of the United States Army retiring as a Colonel and is a founding sponsor of the National Museum of the US Army.

Back by popular demand, our Holiday Tea will be offered to those wishing to visit the beautifully decorated Mathis House Tearoom at 600 Main Street in Toms River on December 6, 2021. Guests may look forward to the ever-delicious scones, yummy tea sandwiches, and scrumptious mini-desserts that accompany generous pots of fine tea as they chat with friends in the historical elegance of this stately home. As usual, a few lucky guests will win door prizes, one of which will be one night’s stay at 600 Main for each seating. Seating is at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Cost: $40 members; $45 non-members. OCHS’s Visit to John F. Peto Museum

The museum is located at 102 Cedar Ave in Island Heights. OCHS will be donating to the Peto Museum, so there is no admission fee. You must provide your own transportation.
