The Ocean County Library 101 Washington St, Toms River, NJ, United StatesAuthors Sabeeha Rehman and Walter Ruby will highlight the message of their book We Refuse to Be Enemies, a manifesto by two American citizens, a Muslim woman and Jewish man, concerned with the rise of intolerance and bigotry in our country. Subtitled How Muslims and Jews Can Make Peace, One Friendship at a Time, the book is a manifesto that two Americans, a Muslim woman and a Jewish man, created in response to the perceived rise of bias and bigotry in the US. Rehman and Ruby have spent decades in interfaith collaborations, nurturing cooperation among communities. They will share their observations about ways that people of all backgrounds can create lasting friendships through knowledge and trust. Starting Wednesday May 4th, 2022 and continuing the first Wednesday of every month. Tables will be set up along the sidewalk on Main St. (starting at The Downtown Shops, 53 Main St.) TRAC artist’s along with some friends will be showing off and selling their works right on Main St. Some of the artist’s will be doing demos, some artists will have mini projects for the kids to take home. You never know when live entertainment will show up either! Don't forget to visit the stores in the Downtown Shops and all the other businesses Toms River has to offer. This is a free, family friendly event.

The Longest Day: The Heroes of D-Day
Ocean County Historical Society 26 Hadley Ave, Toms River, NJ, United StatesThe Longest Day: The Heroes of D-Day On June 12th, you are invited to join Dr. Jeff Schenker at Ocean County Historical Society, 26 Hadley Avenue, Toms River, as he discusses the individual heroes of June 6, 1944, and what led to an Allied Victory during World War II. Jeff is a popular Adjunct Professor of History at Ocean County College, having earned a Master’s Degree in History from Monmouth College and a Doctorate in History from Drew University. Jeff was fortunate to spend eight days in France studying the Normandy Invasion on a Stephen Ambrose tour. He is a dynamic speaker, well versed in the details of D-Day. You will learn about General Dwight Eisenhower and the men directly involved in the battle. The in-person program begins at 2:00 PM in the OCHS museum. There is no admission fee. No refreshments will be served.
