  • American Bandstand: Philadelphia 1957-1963 Part I

    Relive the days when teens danced to the tunes on American Bandstand with this multimedia presentation by Rick Feingold.   American Bandstand originated in 1957 as a five-day-a-week afternoon television show. It featured teenagers dancing to Top 40 records introduced by Dick Clark. Students would dance on the show which all their teachers watched. This program set in Philadelphia between 1957-1963 features original live Bandstand performances of Rock Around the Clock with Bill Haley and the Comets, Mack the Knife by Bobby Darin, Tears on My Pillow by Little Anthony, Charlie Brown by the Coasters, Great Balls of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis, Rock ‘n Roll is Here to Stay by Danny and the Juniors and more. Rick Feingold teaches American Business History at Bergen Community College and holds an MBA from Penn State University and a B.A. in History from Rutgers University.   • Waves of Hope: The Inspirational Story of Agnes Negra

    Author Ronald Negra and Valerie, his wife, will discuss the creation of this book: the inspiring true story of his mother Agnes' dedication to our country during WWII. During World War II, using her shortwave radio from her home in Nutley, New Jersey, Agnes listened to Radio Berlin each night and notated the names of U.S. Prisoners of War as they were announced.   • WREP: When Radio Entertained People

    Join us for an evening "broadcast" of skits from the Golden Age of radio, performed live by WREP's veteran actors.   Veteran actors from WREP will perform skits from radio’s “Golden Age” of the 1940s and 1950s. This “broadcast” will feature excerpts from Abbott & Costello as well as The War of the Worlds.
