The Ocean County Library 101 Washington St, Toms River, NJ, United StatesThe Ocean County Library will host Jamie Fiore Higgins, who will discuss and sign copies of her book, Bully Market: My Story of Money and Misogyny at Goldman Sachs. Financial Times named Jamie one of its Top 25 Most Influential Women of 2022. In Bully Market, Jamie combines her sobering account of harassment and discrimination in corporate America with practical steps for improving workplace cultures and promoting an environment of inclusion and growth. The product of a working-class family, Jamie Fiore Higgins compiled an 18-year career in the New York headquarters of one of America’s largest finance companies, becoming a Managing Director and the highest-ranking woman in her department. In her dramatic account, she describes a workplace atmosphere fraught with abuse, which eventually affected her health, morale, and marriage before she worked up the courage to walk away and find ways to promote work positivity and equality. Brian Betz is a past winner of the Betty Carter International Jazz Competition. Vinnie Corrao is a veteran guitarists who has performed at many and varied jazz venues. Sinatra: A Voice in Time
The Ocean County Library 101 Washington St, Toms River, NJ, United StatesIn celebration of Italian-American Heritage Month, join us with Phil Bruschi, as he presents a musical biography on famed Italian-American performer, Frank Sinatra. Phil pays tribute to Sinatra's musical career; how he continually reinvented himself as a singer, as well as some of his biggest recordings from 1939 to his final retirement in 1995. Phil will sing selected Sinatra songs that were hits from the Big Band era to his solo career. Registration is required for all attendees.
The Rave-Ons’ Early Rock & Roll Radio Review

Starting with the king of rock & roll, Elvis Presley, the band pays tribute to rock & roll's founders. Audience members will sing along to songs by their favorite 50's artists including: Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Dion and The Belmonts, The Everly Brothers, and of course, Buddy Holly. By the end of the show, you will learn how all these great performers inspired and spawned some of the best bands of all time like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and many other popular 1960's rockers. Patriot Day Concert with Gary Nokes

Subtitled How Muslims and Jews Can Make Peace, One Friendship at a Time, the book is a manifesto that two Americans, a Muslim woman and a Jewish man, created in response to the perceived rise of bias and bigotry in the US. Rehman and Ruby have spent decades in interfaith collaborations, nurturing cooperation among communities. They will share their observations about ways that people of all backgrounds can create lasting friendships through knowledge and trust. Mothers of Invention

From Margaret Knight (the 19th century “Female Edison”) to Hollywood superstar Hedy Lamarr, these “Mothers of Invention” changed our lives, yet their accomplishments were all too often ignored, discounted or credited to others. The Korean Conflict: America’s Forgotten War
The Ocean County Library 101 Washington St, Toms River, NJ, United StatesJoin presenter Paul Zigo to learn about the Korean War: America’s ‘Forgotten War’. Learn about its profound impact on East-West relations during the Cold War, the aspects of the war, and the armistice that brought it to a halt. Registration is required. This presentation will be hosted at the Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library. Paul E. Zigo, a history professor, author and military historian is the founder and director, of the World War II Era Studies Institute. The institute is dedicated to furthering one’s knowledge and understanding of the WW II era and its impact on history. He is a graduate of Temple University and the United States Army War College. Mr. Paul E. Zigo is a 30 year veteran of the United States Army retiring as a Colonel and is a founding sponsor of the National Museum of the US Army.
