Meet Author Kate Kelly, Esq

The Ocean County Library 101 Washington St, Toms River

Attorney and activist Kate Kelly, Esq. will discuss her book Ordinary Equality: The Fearless Women and Queer People Who Shaped the U.S. Constitution and the Equal Rights Amendment. From before the Constitution was drafted to the modern day, women and queer people have helped shape the foundations of American democracy. Through the fascinating and often-overlooked lives of more than a dozen key players, including Abigail Adams, Phillis Wheatley, Alice Paul, Pauli Murray, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and Barbara Jordan, Ordinary Equality examines how and why constitutional equality for all marginalized genders has been systematically undermined for over two centuries. Kate Kelly is a feminist, activist, and human rights lawyer. She’s a nationally known advocate for the ratification of the ERA and host and creator of the podcast Ordinary Equality. Kate lives in Washington, DC, with her partner, Jamie Manson.
