DESCRIPTION:Ocean County Historical Society Sponsors Holocaust Survivor\, Arthur Spielman\nSunday\, October 11\, 2026\, at 2:00 PM \nThe Ocean County Historical Society welcomes Arthur Spielman\, who will speak about how he survived the Holocaust. Arthur was born in 1928 in Krakow\, Poland. He grew up in an Orthodox Jewish family with his father\, mother and two sisters. Although his family was not required to move into the Krakow ghetto because his father was an international diplomat\, the Spielman family chose to move to live closer to their extended family. Arthur Spielman’s family briefly lived in the Krakow ghetto before the liquidation process in Krakow began. As Arthur’s father became aware of the final solution\, the family separated and was smuggled out of Poland first to Slovakia and eventually to Hungary. In 1942 Arthur’s grandparents were picked up by the Gestapo and Arthur never saw them again. \nArthur was interviewed by Stephen Spielberg for Schindler’s List and by the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC. He has spoken to many groups and believes very strongly in making sure the truth of the Holocaust experience stays alive in our collective memories. \nThese events take place at our museum at 26 Hadley Avenue in Toms River. DESCRIPTION:The Oxx Foundation to Host Autumn Lights Festival for Parkinson’s in Downtown Toms River\nCommunity festival will bring together live music\, local vendors\, family activities\, a cornhole tournament and Parkinson’s awareness at Huddy Park \nTOMS RIVER\, N.J. — The Oxx Foundation will host its Autumn Lights Festival for Parkinson’s on Saturday\, October 24\, 2026\, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Huddy Park in Downtown Toms River. \nDesigned as a day of community\, connection and awareness\, the Autumn Lights Festival will bring families\, local businesses\, artists and community organizations together while shining a light on Parkinson’s disease and the individuals and families whose lives are impacted by it. \nThe family-friendly fall festival will feature live music\, food trucks\, local vendors\, a pumpkin patch\, face painting\, an Art Expo and other seasonal activities throughout the day. \nLive entertainment will feature a diverse lineup of local performers\, including The Angeltones\, Chris Guzman\, The Perfect Blend Band and Scott Ivory. \nThe festival will also feature a Cornhole Tournament presented by Fun Bags. Players can warm up beginning at 10:00 a.m.\, with tournament play starting at 11:00 a.m. The competition will include four round-robin games followed by double elimination.
