DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, May 10\, 2026\, at 2:00 PM – General John Lacey and the Battle of the Crooked Billet\, presented by Scott Randolph \nRenowned historian Scott Randolph will tell us how General John Lacey became a hero during the Battle of the Crooked Billet. Randolph will discuss the General’s ties to Lacey Township\, named after him. He will also discuss the brutal atrocities committed under British Major John Graves Simcoe. (Simcoe is featured in the TV mini-series\, “Turn.”) \nScott has worked in radio\, film\, and television for over 30 years. He was an on-air talent for WJJZ Philadelphia\, 92 5XTU Philadelphia Atlantic City\, and WHWH Princeton. In his TV career he directed “Christina Cook” on PBS for over 10 years and was the director of “Comcast Newsmakers” for 15 years. He produced and directed the award-winning documentary\, “The Battle of the Crooked Billet\,” which premiered at Valley Forge National Park. \nThis event takes place at our museum at 26 Hadley Avenue in Toms River. It featured teenagers dancing to Top 40 records introduced by Dick Clark. Students would dance on the show which all their teachers watched. This program set in Philadelphia between 1957-1963 features original live Bandstand performances of Rock Around the Clock with Bill Haley and the Comets\, Mack the Knife by Bobby Darin\, Tears on My Pillow by Little Anthony\, Charlie Brown by the Coasters\, Great Balls of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis\, Rock ‘n Roll is Here to Stay by Danny and the Juniors and more. \nRick Feingold teaches American Business History at Bergen Community College and holds an MBA from Penn State University and a B.A. in History from Rutgers University. \nThis program is sponsored by the Friends of the Ocean County Library – Toms River.
